| Dear Slogger's,
After playing Marlborough in a friendly a few weeks back, and us winning 4-0, I thought this match was going to be a push-over, but it turned out to be a very exciting match, which could quite easily have gone either way. Fortunately it didn't! Up front we had goal scorer No. 1 - 'Steady' Eddie working with 'Bandit' and 'Pip' (Pete) who managed to break Marlborough's defences, allowing 'Steady' to put all 3 goals in the back of the net ….. Well done Eddie! In mid-field, 'Mustard', 'Roberto' and 'Chopper' all played an exceptional game and kept the opposition on their toes throughout the match. In defence 'Tank' and 'Pont' did a grand job of not letting Gavin touch the ball, and only letting the opposition slip 1 goal in. Coach Pont being the mean father he is, did his usual shouting a Russ from the sideline. I heard him shouting at he poor kid - "If you don't get that ball you ain't getting nothing for Christmas"!! …. Humbug to you Coach Pont. Gavin playing in goal had a couple of excellent saves, but spent most of his time wallowing in mud, much the dismay of Jill & Mike, who have had half the pitch go through their washing machine! Coach Pont did such a good job on Russell in defence, he was awarded Man of the Match - and well deserved too! OK Russ - you get some presents now … Can someone please let Coach Woods and his backup team know when we play Wootton Bassett again. They spent half the match grilling everyone as to when we play them next! Have you noticed that Kim is wearing Army Boots to the matches these days? Thought I'd better mention a few words about Saturday's friendly match against Greenmeadow. Does anyone know the score, because when I asked Coach Hares he told me to bugger off! I think having 10 kids to concentrate on was taking its toll and he got a bit stressed! I don't think it was anything personal? Anyway, I heard Coach Pont mumble something about it being 9-1 to Greenmeadow. The boys did their best and 'Mustard' did pull 1 goal back towards the end of the game. Louie was awarded Man of the Match for his great performance ….. Well done Louie! This weekend we play Minety at home and judging by their form we should score a few goals and gain back some goal difference in the league table - ……. Good luck boys! Roving Reporter Bill Fail |
